The sun continued to shine in London, which made it an ideal time to lounge in London Fields and Hyde Park. The dogs bounding through the parks outnumbered the children, and I was reminded of just how much the English love their dogs.
CocoRosie – Lemonade
If the heat and the sunshine made me forget that I was in dreary London, so too did a post-brunch visit to Hackney City Farms. The small farm in the middle of busy Haggerston, Hackney, has a cafe, a shop and a bike repair clinic, and offers workshops and classes for those interested in getting closer to what they eat.
There is a large vegetable garden, and chickens and ducks roam about the livestock area and its multiple signs reminding you to wash your hands. Two enormous pigs tried to escape the heat by burrowing into deep mud, and I met a chicken with terrifying purple and black wattles that made it the ugliest chicken I’d ever seen.
